There are artistic principles and concepts that naturally stimulate visual creativity and lead to making paintings that are dynamic. We will awaken our imagination by playing with simple compositional ideas of shapes, rhythm, size, direction and even gravity. In this class we will use great “tricks” of composition to make exciting works on paper using the finest materials. You will make real discoveries. We will have fun using Creta “Aquastics”, Sennelier oil pastels, Creta “Aquabriques”, and the the unique water-soluble “Art Chunkies”. We will also use traditional materials such as Sennelier Watercolors and Pastels..Artists and teachers of all skill levels will find this class highly informative, useful and fun, too. It is structured so that students may take this course by itself or in combination with the Thursday afternoon and Friday evening course as well

Creative Breakout: The Magic of Color.”
Ever wonder why so many unexpected things happen when you apply color in your paintings? Understanding and using color is one of the biggest challenges artists face. In this class you will learn, in an enjoyable fashion, why colors behave the way they do and you will experience and understand color as never before. We will learn how to do color mixing, watercolor washes, glazes and splashes and how to combine these with other special materials in resists, pours and layers. We will make exciting works on paper where we put to use what we have learned about color using exciting materials provided by Savoir Faire. This class may be taken by itself or in combination with either or both of Thursday’s Creative Imagination classes. Artists and teachers of all skill levels will find this class highly informative, useful and fun, too

 Sunday Morning:

Expressive Figure Drawing with New Materials & New Methods Part  I

In this class Bill will demonstrate and teach how to draw the nude figure based on fascinating material from his new book “Expressive Figure Drawing” published by Watson-Guptill/Random House (coming out December 14, 2010). Learn new and exciting ways to paint and draw the nude figure that are easy, free flowing and fun. The emphasis is on using mixed media techniques with unusual materials and techniques to achieve a surprisingly artistic and pleasing result without being too overly technical. Bill will demonstrate ways of drawing that will expand your artistic skills and enable you to achieve a higher expressive level. As you learn to draw the figure with courage, freshness and freedom a world of new artistic possibilities will open up. The morning class and the afternoon class will cover complementary but completely different aspects of the figure drawing process and may be easily taken independently or together

We will work from a live model. Exciting materials provided by Savoir Faire.
