1) Day One: 9-12
This entire course, “Creative Breakout:Awakening Your Creative Imagination with New Materials” sponsored by Savoir Faire, is a complete hands-on exploration of the modern basics of making good art: color, composition, creative techniques using a host of exciting new materials in a variety of mixed media approaches. We will have fun using Creta “Aquastics”, Sennelier oil pastels, Creta “Aquabriques”, and the the unique water-soluble “Art Chunkies”. We will also use traditional materials such as Sennelier Watercolors and Pastels. Artists of all skill levels will find this entire course highly informative, useful and fun, too. It is structured so that students may take the course all 3 days, or by the day or in selected three hour sessions. Day One -Morning: The Power of Your Creative Imagination: Have you ever wondered why some paintings seem alive with energy? There are artistic principles and concepts that naturally stimulate visual creativity and lead to making paintings that are dynamic. We will awaken our imagination by playing with simple compositional ideas of shapes, rhythm, size, direction and even gravity. In this class we will use great “tricks” of composition to make exciting works on paper using the finest materials. You will make real discoveries.
Day One: Afternoon. “Creative Breakout: The Power of Free Form” - How to make dynamic free form abstracts. Creative techniques you won't have seen before which reveal the simple processes that lie at the root of all creativity. This is the stuff they never told you in art school. In this class there will be ample demonstrations and lots of practical tips and techniques for exploring design techniques that will help you along the path to creating paintings that “swing”. We will make exciting works on paper using the finest Sennelier and Creta watermedia and drawing materials provided by Savoir Faire. 3) Day Two: 9-12
“Creative Breakout: The Power of Color.”
Ever wonder why so many unexpected things happen when you apply color in your paintings? Understanding and using color is one of the biggest challenges artists face. In this class you will learn, in an enjoyable fashion, why colors behave the way they do and you will experience and understand color as never before. We will make exciting works on paper where we put to use what we have learned about color using exciting materials provided by Savoir Faire. 4) Day Two: 1- 4
“Creative Breakout: The Magic Of Mixed Media.”
Learn how to take advantage of the characteristics of the materials you already use as well as new materials you may not have tried. We will learn how to do watercolor washes and glazes and splashes and how to combine these with special effects using watercolor crayons (Creta “Aquastics”), Sennelier oil pastels, and amazing new materials like Creta “Aquabriques” and water-soluble “Art Chunkies”. Day Three: 9 -12
The Nude Figure with New Materials & New Methods Part 1 - Day 3, AM - Part 1. Learn new and exciting ways to paint and draw the nude figure that are easy, free flowing and fun. The emphasis is on using mixed media techniques with unusual materials and techniques to achieve a surprisingly artistic and pleasing result without being too overly technical. We will work from provided photographs. Exciting materials provided by Savoir Faire. This class may be taken by itself or as part of the complete 3 day course. Day Three: 1- 4
The Nude Figure with New Materials & New Methods Part 2 - Day 3, PM Learn more exciting ways to paint and draw the nude figure that are easy, free flowing and fun .It is not necessary to have taken the morning class (although it helps!) The emphasis is on using mixed media techniques with unusual materials and techniques to achieve a surprisingly artistic and pleasing result without being too overly technical. We will work from provided photographs. Exciting materials provided by Savoir Faire. This class may be taken by itself or as part of the complete 3 day course.
